demoCome for a time of fun and fellowship as we introduce our Fall Bible topic: "Adventurous Prayer"; a study from the "Women of Faith" series.  Prayer: we know we should all do it more often; our days are full, our lives are complicated, and our hearts are heavy with unspoken prayers.  God knows, and He is waiting for us to turn, and tell Him all about it.  God is listening for our whispers, and He will answer us.  More ...

Inclement Weather

Checking to see if we're open.

Although Church closure is very rare at Avenue Road, there are occasions when this is necessary for the safety of ARBC members, adherents, and partners.  Bearing in mind a portion of our membership commutes to ARBC across town and the 401, we strive to see our guests able to arrive safely.  Therefore, Avenue Road Baptist Church has implemented an Inclement Weather Policy, which outlines what to do if you think adverse weather conditions may have affected programs at ARBC.

Inclement Weather Policy

Steps to take if you think ARBC might be closed:

Inclement Weather Policy:  ARBC Members & Adherents.

In the event of inclement weather, the chair of the deacons’ board (or closest designate) and the Sr. pastor will jointly assess the hazardousness of road conditions by 7 a.m. of a Sunday morning, or at the earliest opportunity during the week.  If deemed necessary, ARBC will be closed for all activities for that day and evening.  The decision for church closure will be communicated to members and adherents in the following manner:

  1. Chair of Deacons and Lead Pastor confer re: Inclement Weather at 7:00 a.m.
  2. Chair notifies individual deacons, who in turn, notify shepherding lists in the event of church closure.
  3. In the event a member/adherent receives no phone call by 8:00 a.m., then individuals may:

    1. Call in to the Church Office automated attendant for further information
    2. Check the church website as of 8 a.m.
    3. Listen for further announcements on 96.7, 107.5 FM, or AM 570.

  4. The church will assumed to be open in the absence of any information to the contrary using at least one of the previously mentioned methods.

Please make sure that your existing contact information with ARBC is updated, and accurate.

Inclement Weather Policy:  Third-Party-Groups and Ministry Partners.

In the event of inclement weather, third-party groups and ministry partners who use ARBC facilities will determine the availability of programs that day in accordance with their own Inclement Weather Policy at their own risk and discretion.  Although we rely on our maintenance provider to clear snow from the property, these services may not be necessarily be available, or available in a timely fashion for 3rd-party groups and ministry partners in the event of church closure.
